Our Easter was spent homebound - fine weather predictions resulted in hay making - all weekend! Despite not holidaying, we had a nice weekend that involved no packing or unpacking but plenty of chocolate.
With 6 hourly weather update checks, the powers to be promised no rain. Darryn, forever cautious, decided to cut, rake and bale the paddock in sections so if a freak shower event passed over all would not be lost. After months of praying for rain and analysing every cloud for its rain yielding potential the last few days has been very strange as we embarked on an anti-rain campaign. It worked, just shy of 300 bales have been put in the shed for this year.
Of course these two were on hand to make sure Dad was doing it right...
We did however get a 6mm shower pass over the house, much to the delight of the garden. Hay paddock - unaffected - phew!
Kids in the kitchen for some Easter baking. This batch of hot cross buns getting much 3y.o love put into them.
Easter bunny baskets had to be constructed. Heidi created her own and I took the liberty of creating a masterpiece for Lewis - while he was asleep. So Heidi and I crafted up a storm in a toddler free zone.
I'm pretty sure Lewis thought Easter Sunday to be the best day of his life - chocolate for breakfast!! The Easter bunny found the kids and they couldn't have been happier. I had a very hard time convincing Lewis to eat his weet-bix when Daddy kept unwrapping easter eggs.
With a sugar high to burn off we recruited some help - "Bergie". Mickey has taken off to the brumby paddock once again. A four barb fence is merely a place to scratch your back for a Shetland, so he enjoys free range of the 22,000acres. Bergie however is a little more committed to her role as Heidi's pony and is on hand whenever she is needed.
"What about Lewis?" I hear you say. This is where he takes up residence when forced to come and watch Heidi ride the horse and when you say "Do you want a ride on Bergie, Lewis?" He vigorously shakes his head and retreats back into the depths of the pram. He won't even entertain the suggestion of patting Bergie. I think this little boy will be the proud owner of a red stallion named 'Honda' ;-)
