Finally Some Rain to Report

Before we went on holidays, most days were spent scouring the horizon or the internet for anything that looked like rain for our area.  With a hovering cyclone over Christmas, spirits were high, however she did not deliver for us.

However, as a welcome home from holidays gift, mother nature gave us a gratefully received and appreciated 140mm.

It was enough to run creeks and fill some dams, as well, of course, as getting that grass growing!  Thanks Mother Nature, we know how selective you've been lately with who gets the rain!

The rain certainly helped our 'holiday hangover'.  Heidi was especially finding it difficult after having Darryn around so much over the past couple of weeks, his first doning of the work boots was met with "No Dad, you can't go to work - you have to stay here with me!!"  So the best way to cure this was to appoint her 2IC and head out with Dad.

Although not much work could get done amidst all the mud, so Daddy undertook an upcycling project for the kids.  A rescued old slippery dip, a pod and a few bucket loads of creek sand has made for two very happy (and entertained) kids.

It is now over to Mum apparently for the beautifying of this contraption, so stay tuned for the final touches...(if I can get the kids off it long enough to do anything!) Oh and ideas (and assistance) are welcomed :-)

With Dad hanging about the house, Heidi and I took the opportunity for him to entertain Lewis while we got crafting.

She absolutely loved doing this little paint project.  However, next time I will throw away the box before starting so she doesn't see all the cool drawings in the picture and expect me to replicate them!!  A dodgy little monster was about the extent of my artistic contribution before I convinced her that she is a much better painter than Mum!  Thanks MacNicol family for the great gift!

And finally we have been enjoying some yummy home grown (by Mama) watermelon on these hot days. Mmmmm, who doesn't love summer!!

Happy New Year - Agnes Water Style

With Christmas done and dusted, we zoomed into the New Year with a refreshing family holiday at Agnes Waters.  Such a beautiful part of the world which we embraced fully, enjoying surf, sand and sun.  If the kids weren't swimming, they were scootering.  Even the odd buster couldn't deter their enthusiasm to ride their scooter everywhere!

Luckily for these kids, pyjamas and tutus are totally acceptable scootering attire.

While the big kids carved up the footpath on their wheels, they still made room for the slower pedestrians.

The next extreme sport to be tackled, was paddleboarding.  Luckily the weather was favourable and it was only Tasha that ended up in the drink.  Everybody else enjoyed the nose to toe workout this sport is famous for.

Tayla decided to take it up a notch and had these three wiggly worms accompany her.  The fact that she could barely move a muscle for the whole five days without these three wanting to know where she was going, what she was doing and whether or not they could go with her was what led to this paddle board of mayhem.

Always up for a challenge, Tayla decided that they should all stand up.

Before....

After... :-)

This was Lewis's first time at the beach as a toddler.  He loved the sand and digging, but was very dubious of the waves...

The beach at 1770 was a little more his style.

This little girl and her Mum were loving the camera!

We tried to bury the kids, to keep them still for just a few moments in order to capture the perfect shot - yeah right!

Even Daddy got salty, no signs of rust yet ;-)

Our annual holiday over, we headed home with beach tans, sandy feet and a refreshed mind - bring on 2016.

So until next year Agnes, stay beautiful.

Christmas 2015

As with everything in life, Christmas 2015 has whizzed by in a flurry of wrapping paper, food, family, memories, smiles and the beach. Heidi woke Christmas morning to a stuffed Santa sack and was totally flabbergasted at what Santa was capable of.  She had certainly underestimated this merry man and I think next year's December bribing will be much more effective.  Lewis barely got the chance to put his hands on his wrapping paper before Heidi swooped in to lend her helping hand.

Poppa arrived bearing gifts, a new riding helmet for this little girl...

...a puzzle and some hair clippers for this little boy.

In what seemed like an instant we went from an orderly Christmas tree display to this wonderful mess!

We then headed to Clairview for a beautiful buffet lunch by the sea with the Atkinson family.

A few days later we packed our bags and headed to Agnes Waters for our annual holiday and Bidgood Christmas.  Again, presents were piled high and kids could barely sit still as they eyed off dozens of wrapped presents.  So for the second time - let the unwrapping begin!

Heidi got a tutu dress from Nana and Pop - I needn't have worried about packing a port for the holiday - she only wore this dress, togs and pyjamas!!

Now with the Christmas tree all packed up for another year, we are enjoying all the wonderful gifts that we received over the festive season.  We are also so very grateful for the health and happiness of all our friends and family.  Christmas is certainly a time of giving and receiving but also a time for reflection.  We have had a wonderful festive season surrounded by those that mean most to us and for we are truly thankful.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
