It's that time of year again...silage making time.
Rhys and I, fresh out of a five day stint in the air-conditioned hospital, were thrown straight back into the reality of life. Food and accommodation for 4 silage men, plus our own two men meant that the smoko van had to enlist some help! Aunty Tayla showed up to offer her skills as a baby-sitter, sandwich maker, clothes washer and unbeknown to her tyre-thrower!
A record crop saw old pits cleaned out ready for use, never before has this much silage been taken from the paddock. These excellent results are being put down to superior management by all those involved and 'gee we're good at farming' could be heard ringing from the smoko table. An organic inoculant given to the seed, rain of appropriate timing and quantity and a different breed of sorghum (renowned for its prolific growth) barely rated a mention when stories of the record tonnes were told...
Anyway, whatever the reason, large tonnes equals large piles which means lots and lots of tyres!
Many hands make light work, so even little ballerina's lended their hands...
This little groover kept an eye on things - made sure everyone was doing it right...
Tayla was chief 'baby holder' even being entrusted with Heidi's precious "Jessie"
Nobody could resist the urge to slide down this makeshift slippery dip - certainly the biggest these kids have ever seen!
