It's a Boy, and a Girl, and another Boy.....

Our fur family grew by 11 last Sunday as our Great Dane, Cookie, welcomed her babies to the world.

We managed to find Cookie a strapping young boyfriend very close to home, and were very excited when all 11 puppies came out bearing spots.

Heidi was so, so excited and would sit and play with the puppies all day if I'd let her.  She clucks over them like a little mother hen, making sure they all stay close together.  It has proved an excellent bargaining tool with plenty of "you won't be able to go and see Cookie and the puppies if you don't....." coming out of my mouth lately.  It works a treat.

Lewis has not been so welcoming, he pushes away any pup that dares come too close.  Heidi now musters them up so that they don't go near Lewis.  Lewis is happier playing in Cookie's water dish!

Great Dane puppies, obviously are born quite big, this helps enormously with the somewhat robust treatment they receive from little hands.  So at one week old they are little bundles of cuteness.  Check back with me in five weeks when these 11 bundles of cuteness are destroying everything in their path!!

                                          ........we have to move over.

So, in case you haven't guessed - Team Atkinson is delighted to announce that we are set to welcome our third and final member in 29 short weeks.
In early April, 2016 our little family will be complete (and probably very noisy).  Heidi is excited at the prospect, Lewis not so much.

So, make room in your homes and your hearts because there is going to be....one more!

Always Jobs To Do

This has been Heidi's choice of attire lately, she wears this dress every day until it gets so filthy that I have to prise it from her to go into the washing machine! Unfortunately she doesn't get to subscribe to the lifestyle that this kind of dress may suggest - there's too many jobs to do!

Luckily Lewis doesn't argue with the clothes I select for him each day.

We welcomed a lovely 10mm of rain last weekend.  This little Miss was very excited to have muddy puddles to jump in.

Darryn did a spot of hunting and gathering for his family, with much success.  We now have fish back on the menu to everyone's delight.  Heidi was very excited to see such big fish.  She patted them and could be heard saying "Hello fishy, I name Heidi. How you today?".  Very cute.

We helped Daddy lay some special matting to stop the cattle slipping as they exit the head bail.  Heidi's eyes nearly fell out of her head when she saw the big bag of screws and all the little holes in the mat.  She set straight to work, putting them all in their holes.  Lewis set straight to work following her along pulling them all out.  Darryn followed them both along fretting that some were going to be lost!

Lewis is getting his move on.  Pushing things along and walking behind looking around to see who is watching him.  He has been giving this Tonka truck a workout everyday!

Lewis and I practised some selfies while Heidi was helping Daddy with the hay.

We helped down at the feedlot one afternoon, cleaning out the water trough.  These two little monkeys stayed relatively dry during the process...

And that's a wrap on this week's comings and goings.  Enjoy :-)
